Department: Group Business Platforms within Global Technology (Solution Design).

Location: City of London, London.

Schroders’ two‑year apprenticeship programmes give school and college leavers a hands‑on introduction to investment management and the opportunity to develop key skills, gain professional qualifications and build an industry network.

You will have opportunities to meet and network with apprentices across the industry, as well as participate in technical skills training, socials and insight events.

The base: You’ll be based at our headquarters in the City of London working with customers, the business and technology to deliver leading customer experience based on understanding customer needs and wants and business goals. We need inquisitive individuals who are eager to ask questions and get involved with the team.

The Teams: As a Global Operations, Data & Private Assets Technology Apprentice you will join one of our Operations, Data or Private Assets Technology teams. All of these teams work globally with other colleagues around the world and will help you learn all about what they do.

Group Business Platforms: The Group Business Platforms department at Schroders is a Global Technology change delivery function that oversees and executes all technology delivery within the organisation. This department is strategically structured to align with technology services and shared Centre of Excellence (CoE) functions for analysis, engineering, technical architecture, low code and delivery, fostering a collaborative environment where cross‑functional, fungible skills can thrive. By leveraging these diverse capabilities, Group Business Platforms ensures the successful execution of technology initiatives while driving innovation and efficiency across the organisation.

Solution Design: The Solution Design function within Group Technology serves as a centre of excellence for business analysis and design, bridging the gap between business needs and technological solutions. Its main purpose is to ensure that technology initiatives are aligned with business objectives and are delivered in a robust, scalable, and efficient manner. This function typically consists of experienced Analysts and Designers who work closely with both technology and business teams. Some key activities are:

  • Turning business requirements and objectives into clear, actionable technology solutions.
  • Working with Solution Architects to design a cohesive architecture that fits both Group Technology standards and Schroders’ broader operational ecosystem.
  • Facilitation of technical feasibility assessments, identifying risks, and recommending mitigations before commitment to build.
  • Defining the target state for solutions, ensuring they adhere to security, compliance, and operational best practices.
  • Coordinating between business stakeholders (such as Asset Management, Private Equity, and Personal Wealth), development teams, and external vendors to ensure solutions deliver value.
  • Creating clear design artefacts and specifications to facilitate smooth implementation and future maintenance.
  • Overseeing delivery, supporting teams in interpreting, and realising the design intent.

In summary, the Solution Design function is a critical control point for ensuring:

  • Investment in technology is well‑justified and future‑proof.
  • Solutions are integrated efficiently within existing technology stacks.
  • Stakeholders have a clear understanding of what to expect from technology change.

What you’ll do:

  • Helping to support and manage work items assigned to the team from the business.
  • Working with business and technology stakeholders directly and coordinating with internal developers and testers.
  • Performing data analysis and offering data consultancy to business and technology stakeholders.
  • Updating the physical data model dictionary.
  • Support the full project lifecycle through to implementation – you’ll be involved at every stage of the software development lifecycle.

Who we’re looking for:

  • If you’ve just finished school or college, and gained A-levels or BTECs, and you’re not sure that university is for you, then our apprenticeship opportunities within our Global Technology function provide you with a chance to work in London, take the first step in your career and earn while you learn.
  • As a Schroders apprentice, you will spend 20% of your time working towards achieving an accredited professional qualification; the rest of your time will be spent working with your team and gaining the skills you need to build your expertise.
  • You need to be living in England and have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least three years prior to the apprenticeship start date.
  • Will be aged 18 or over by 7 September 2026.
  • A recent school or college leaver (A-levels, BTECs or equivalent), or are unsure whether university is the right path for you.
  • Are not enrolled in another government‑funded apprenticeship or further education programme when you start with us.

Qualifications required:

  • A-levels (or equivalent) in any subjects – no minimum UCAS points required.
  • Level 2 in both English and Maths (GCSE grade 9‑4 or equivalent) for those undertaking a level 3 or higher apprenticeship.
  • Experience in providing excellent customer service is beneficial.
