A leading, long-term public-equities investment business is seeking a Head of Equity Research to lead a high-conviction research platform based in London. This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for setting the research agenda, developing investment talent, and partnering closely with portfolio managers on idea generation and portfolio construction.
- Set the overall research strategy and agenda for the equity platform, ensuring deep, differentiated fundamental insights across the firm’s core universes.
- Lead, manage, and develop a team of equity analysts and senior analysts, including recruitment, coaching, objective setting, and performance assessment.
- Work in close partnership with portfolio managers to originate, challenge, and refine investment ideas, and to ensure research outputs are directly linked to portfolio decisions and risk management.
- Oversee research standards, including modelling quality, valuation frameworks, documentation, and investment case communication.
- Champion a culture of rigorous debate, accountability, and long-term thinking within the investment team.
- Contribute to broader business initiatives, including client communications, product development input, and representation at selected client or consultant meetings where appropriate.
Significant experience in public-equities investing, with a strong track record in fundamental research and idea generation. Prior responsibility for leading or coordinating a research team, sector group, or investment pod, with demonstrable people-leadership experience. Deep proficiency in fundamental company analysis, valuation techniques, and portfolio impact assessment. Evidence of building and developing investment talent, including mentoring senior and junior analysts. Comfortable operating in a high-conviction, often concentrated investment environment (e.g. quality-growth, value/contrarian, or long-only / hedge fund settings).
