The role of the Lead (Civil) Designer is to manage the production of discipline specific engineering design deliverables, for a range of multi-disciplinary engineering projects. This includes the design and assessment of various Civil structures, typically encountered on Water and Wastewater sites. This might include the design or assessment of concrete plinths, base-slabs, retaining walls, tanks, channels and flumes etc. designed to resist specified static and dynamic forces generated by the equipment or medium placed upon, in, or adjacent to them. You will also be required to consider the construction aspects of the structures, including ground conditions, buildability and demolition.
Experience and Qualifications
- Broad experience in Civil engineering and/or Construction.
- Structural design experience is desirable, but not essential.
- Adequate understanding of structural theory, with proven problem solving ability.
- Good all-round knowledge of health and safety legislation and good practice inc CDM 2015.
- Good verbal and written communication, and report writing skills.
- Accredited degree in Civil Engineering or similar.
- Near Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer.
- Experience of analysis software (ie. TEKLA TEDDS) is an advantage.
- Experience of 3D modelling and BIM (ie. Revit/CAD 3D) is an advantage.
- Valid UK driving licence.
