Financial Reporting Accountant in Watford

Financial Reporting Accountant – Hybrid working – Hertfordshire – Competitive day-rate

This role is responsible for delivering accurate financial accounting, supporting month-end and year-end processes, and ensuring strong financial controls. The Financial Accountant will work closely with the wider finance function, including reporting, commercial finance, tax, and treasury.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform monthly accounting activities including journal postings, accruals, prepayments, and variance analysis.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations across a range of accounts, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal controls.
• Support technical accounting activities, including the interpretation and application of relevant accounting standards and group policies.
• Ensure financial reporting is completed in line with IFRS and internal accounting policies.
• Assist in the preparation of forecasts and analysis relating to key accounting areas, including IFRS-related adjustments.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring adherence to reporting deadlines.
• Contribute to year-end audit activities, providing information and analysis to internal and external auditors.
• Maintain and improve documentation for accounting processes, procedures, and controls.
• Provide clear commentary and insights to finance colleagues to support understanding of results and key movements.
• Identify and support opportunities to streamline, standardise, and improve accounting and reporting processes.
