Job Description
An established and growing business based in Milton Keynes is looking for a confident Transactional Finance Manager to lead and develop their transactional finance operations. This is a pivotal role with significant scope to shape the future of the team and processes, particularly within Accounts Payable.
This opportunity would suit someone with strong AP experience who has also overseen AR, and is now ready to step into a leadership role where they can make a real impact.
About the Role:
As Transactional Finance Manager, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day operations across Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, playing a key role in refining processes, improving controls, and supporting ongoing business growth. A major part of this role will include building and structuring the AP team, giving you the opportunity to bring in the right people, tools, and processes from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities:
- Full responsibility for the Accounts Payable function, including invoice processing, payment runs, supplier management, and reconciliations
- Recruit, lead, and develop a growing transactional finance team
- Review and improve existing processes, implementing best practice and scalable systems
- Manage multi-entity transactional finance operations, including intercompany transactions and reconciliations
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to resolve queries and maintain strong working relationships across the business
- Support month-end close processes, reporting, and audits
- Identify and drive opportunities for automation, efficiency, and control improvements
- Play a key role in finance transformation and system enhancement initiatives
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Strong background in Accounts Payable, with experience overseeing or supporting Accounts Receivable
- Demonstrable experience in a multi-entity environment
- Proven ability to lead or build teams, ideally with experience recruiting and managing transactional finance staff
- Comfortable with fast-paced, growing environments where change is frequent and encouraged
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Process-driven, with a keen eye for detail and continuous improvement
- Strong systems knowledge – ERP experience and solid Excel skills are essential
Desirable:
- Experience in infrastructure, contracting, construction, or project-based businesses (not essential)
