We are looking for a creative, adaptable Process Improvement Lead who can play a pivotal role in shaping future-fit processes that enhance the operational excellence and experience of students, staff, and leadership across a world-renowned London university.
As the Process Improvement Lead, you will work closely with academic and professional services teams to identify friction points, map and analyse critical processes, and implement practical innovations aligned with the university’s ambitious strategic refresh.
The RoleAs part of this newly established Transformation team, this role will work side by side with Service Design Leads, Project Managers and Change Managers, to fulfil a service review / target operating model change across the entire organisation. This role will be responsible for:
- Leading on institution-wide process mapping and diagnostics, capturing inefficiencies and extracting actionable insights that directly shape strategic improvements.
- Applying advanced methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and service blueprinting to challenge established practices and introduce innovative, evidence-based solutions.
- Co-creating and embedding operating models that prioritise the needs of a dynamic academic environment, delivering benefits in efficiency and experience for all stakeholders.
- Working within a cross-functional team including a Service Design Lead, providing authoritative guidance on process improvement priorities and change feasibility.
- Leading strategic engagements with senior leaders, programme boards, and stakeholders to secure alignment, address risks, and ensure support for the university’s long-term goals.
This role calls for an adaptable individual with:
- Extensive experience in leading and delivering process improvement initiatives in large, multi-stakeholder settings, preferably in higher education or a similar creative/complex sector.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data and feedback into actionable recommendations.
- Expertise in recognised methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen, and an ability to apply these to achieve significant, measurable impacts.
- Exceptional communication and facilitation skills, including experience hosting high-level consultations and workshops that inspire collaboration and consensus.
- A solid understanding of operating model transformations and organisational development, with a demonstrable commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
It would also be advantageous to have:
- Experience working within a complex, federated, organisational structure, and familiarity with the unique challenges and opportunities in the Higher Education or Public Sector.
