The Business
A UK-based, high-growth technology and consulting business operating as a single legal entity. The company has been trading for several years, is profitable, and has delivered sustained revenue growth. The finance function is lean, comprising a senior finance lead and offshore support, with systems including Xero, PayFit and BambooHR. This interim role has been created to support operational finance, strengthen controls, and maintain reporting discipline during a period of continued growth.
The Role
This is a broad hands-on interim Finance Manager position, acting as the day-to-day lead across core accounting, payroll and stakeholder support, while managing offshore transactional resource.
Key Responsibilities
- Ownership of the general ledger, including journals, accruals and reconciliations in Xero
- Delivery of month-end processes and support for year-end readiness
- Ensuring appropriate financial controls and audit readiness
- Oversight of UK payroll via PayFit and BambooHR, including commission calculations
- Tax compliance support, including VAT and statutory filings
- Day-to-day management of an offshore finance assistant covering AP, AR and credit control
- Acting as the main finance point of contact for internal stakeholders and suppliers
Required Experience
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA)
- Trained in practice, ideally within a mid-tier firm
- Experience managing or mentoring junior finance staff
- Strong Excel or Google Sheets capability
- Solid working knowledge of UK payroll, VAT and statutory requirements
- Confident running a broad finance remit with minimal supervision
- Experience using cloud-based finance systems is important, need Xero and PayFit is desirable
