We are seeking an experienced Senior Employee Relations Advisor to join a high-performing HR team, supporting both operational and corporate functions across the UK. This role will play a key part in delivering pragmatic, commercially focused employee relations support across multiple stakeholders, ensuring compliance with employment legislation while fostering positive employee outcomes.
Remote role: Occasional travel to London
Duration: 3 month contract
Day rate: £250/day - Umbrella Inside IR35
The successful candidate will be a trusted advisor to managers and leaders, combining strong technical ER expertise with excellent stakeholder management skills. This role requires someone who is resilient, empathetic, solutions-focused and capable of managing complex employee relations matters in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage complex employee relations cases across multiple business areas, including disciplinary, grievance, performance management, absence management, capability, and investigation processes.
- Provide timely, practical and commercially focused ER advice to managers and HR colleagues.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders across schools, head office and wider business functions.
- Support and guide ER Advisors and other HR team members on complex casework.
- Ensure compliance with UK employment legislation, company policies and best practice.
- Support the management of Employment Tribunal claims and pre-claim activity.
- Design and deliver employee relations training programmes for managers and leaders.
- Maintain accurate employee relations records and case management trackers.
- Analyse ER data to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Work closely with HR Operations and wider HR teams to enhance policies, procedures and ways of working.
- Significant experience in a Senior Employee Relations Advisor or Employee Relations Specialist role.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Proven experience managing complex end-to-end ER casework.
- Strong mediation, facilitation and conflict resolution skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- CIPD Level 5 qualification or above.
- Experience within the education sector or a multi-site organisation.
