Company Overview
You will be joining a very well-established and prestigious full-service Law Firm as their Credit Controller on a part-time basis (3 days a week), on an initial 6 month fixed term contract. You will be part of a close-knit, welcoming and supportive team of 10, reporting into the Senior Credit Controller. Based in the office just 1 day a week, you will have the option to work from home on the remaining 2 days of your working week.
Role Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day credit control activities with the legal services business.
- Ensure the timely collection of outstanding client fees and the maintenance of healthy cash flow.
- Monitor aged debt reports on a daily basis and prioritise collection activities accordingly.
- Chase outstanding invoices through telephone calls, emails and written correspondence.
- Maintain regular contact with clients to ensure payments are received in line with agreed terms.
- Process and allocate incoming payments accurately and in a timely manner.
- Update client records and set up and maintain agreed payment plans.
- Respond promptly to client queries regarding invoices and statements.
- Prepare regular reports on collection activity and portfolio performance.
- Handle complaints sensitively and escalate complex issues.
- Provide copies of invoices, statements and other documentation as requested.
- Address client concerns professionally.
- Work collaboratively with the wider finance team to achieve departmental objectives.
- Provide cover for colleagues during periods of absence.
Role Requirements
- At least 2-3 years of previous credit control experience, ideally in a Legal or Professional Services environment.
- Strong understanding of credit control principles, debt recovery procedures, payment terms, account reconciliation and invoicing processes.
- Basic knowledge of VAT and accounting principles, with awareness of Legal or Professional Services billing structures.
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills, including a confident telephone manner.
- Highly organised, methodical and able to prioritise multiple accounts and deadlines.
- Proactive and adaptable to changing priorities.
- Must be able to start within 4 weeks (ideally sooner).

You will receive a FTE salary of £42,000 (pro rata to the 6 month MAT cover and part-time hours) + Benefits and this package will be regularly reviewed to remain in line with market rate. You will be joining a highly regarded full-service Law Firm that can hopefully provide career progression opportunities after the initial 6 month FTC has come to an end. You will be part of a very supportive and high-performing team who will be there to assist with your transition into the business from day one. You will have flexible hybrid working options, with the chance to work from home 2 out of the 3 days you work. When you are based in the office, you will be located in a great area of London, close to multiple transport links and top attractions.
