About the role
We are looking for a passionate Senior Trainer & Work‑Based Learning Coach to join our Training Services team. This is a rewarding opportunity to shape the next generation of public finance professionals by delivering high‑quality training and supporting apprentices throughout their learning journey. You’ll play a dual role: delivering engaging training across professional accountancy programmes, while also providing personalised coaching to apprentices to help them develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to succeed.
What you’ll be doing
- Deliver outstanding training
- Design and deliver engaging, high‑quality training sessions (both face‑to‑face and online)
- Prepare course materials and collaborate with colleagues to continuously improve content
- Support learners beyond the classroom through forums, coaching sessions and feedback
- Mark assessments and provide clear, constructive feedback to support learner progress
- Coach and support apprentices
- Deliver one‑to‑one coaching to apprentices throughout their programme
- Monitor progress across learning, off‑the‑job training and workplace experience
- Conduct regular review meetings, agreeing SMART actions and ensuring compliance
- Support apprentices towards successful completion of their End Point Assessment
- Enhance the learner experience
- Respond to learner queries and provide academic support
- Maintain accurate learner records and engagement data
- Contribute to continuous improvement of programmes and materials
- Support wider training delivery, including CPD sessions where required
What we’re looking for
Essential qualifications & experience
- Degree‑level education
- A professional accountancy qualification
- Experience in accountancy, audit, or financial management (ideally in public services)
- Proven experience delivering training in both classroom and online environments
Skills & knowledge
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Confident using digital tools, including MS Office, virtual learning environments and video platforms
- Ability to engage and motivate learners with varying needs
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail
