Senior Database Administrator – Active SC Clearance £538 per day – Inside IR35 London / Hybrid 4 months initially
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior DBA with expertise in AWS Aurora, Amazon RDS and PostgreSQL to lead the design, operation, optimisation, resilience, and recovery of critical database platforms. The successful candidate will be a hands-on technical expert, actively involved in architecture decisions, database design, performance tuning, data reconciliation, and operational support.
Key Requirements:
- Active SC Clearance held by a Government agency used within the last 6 months.
- Lead the architecture, design and delivery of enterprise AWS database solutions, with a focus on AWS Aurora, Amazon RDS and PostgreSQL.
- Design scalable, resilient and highly available database platforms, including schema design, data modelling, indexing, replication and disaster recovery strategies.
- Drive database performance optimisation through SQL development, query tuning, execution plan analysis and configuration improvements.
- Manage database operations including upgrades, patching, security, monitoring, capacity planning, backup and recovery processes.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues, perform data reconciliation and integrity validation, and lead root cause analysis of data discrepancies.
- Collaborate with architects, developers and cloud teams to support technical governance, infrastructure automation (Terraform/CloudFormation), CI/CD practices, and the production of technical standards and documentation.
