Our client is seeking an experienced Procurement & Commercial Consultant to support a high-profile client's within the Defence sector. This is an exciting opportunity to work on strategically important programmes that contribute to critical national infrastructure and defence capabilities.

As part of their growing Procurement & Commercial team, you will collaborate with senior client stakeholders, project teams, and suppliers to deliver procurement and commercial excellence across complex capital programmes and infrastructure projects.

This role offers the opportunity to influence major investment decisions, improve commercial outcomes, and support the successful delivery of nationally significant projects.

The Role

Working as part of an embedded client team, you will provide procurement, commercial, and supply chain expertise across a diverse portfolio of projects.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading end-to-end procurement activities in accordance with public sector and defence procurement requirements.
  • Developing sourcing and category strategies aligned to programme objectives.
  • Supporting the preparation of procurement documentation, tender evaluations, and contract awards.
  • Providing commercial advice and challenge to project and programme stakeholders.
  • Managing supplier performance, risk, and commercial relationships.
  • Supporting contract management activities and governance processes.
  • Conducting market engagement and supplier capability assessments.
  • Identifying opportunities for cost efficiencies, value creation, and supply chain resilience.
  • Producing high-quality reports, business cases, and procurement recommendations for senior stakeholders.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across procurement and commercial functions

About You

We are looking for commercially minded professionals who can combine technical procurement expertise with strong stakeholder management skills.

You will ideally possess:

  • Experience in procurement, supply chain, commercial management, or category management.
  • Knowledge of defence/public sector procurement regulations and best practice.
  • Strong contract management and commercial negotiation experience.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work within complex, highly regulated environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure, construction, defence, engineering, or capital programmes.
  • Degree qualification or equivalent professional experience.
  • CIPS qualified or working towards qualification.
  • NEC, JCT, FIDIC, PA23 or other contract management experience.
  • Defence, MOD, infrastructure, or government project experience.
  • Existing Security Clearance (SC) or eligibility to obtain clearance.
  • Experience within a consultancy environment.

Salaries on offer: Β£45,000 - Β£90,000 (depending on experience) plus bonus & benefits
