We're partnering with a high-growth, digitally-led consumer brand that has established itself as a market leader within a rapidly expanding sector. Following significant growth across both the UK and international markets, the business is continuing to invest in its finance function and is seeking an experienced Order to Cash Accountant to join the team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in consumer, retail, e-commerce, direct-to-consumer (D2C), subscription, or multi-channel trading environments.

The role sits at the heart of the finance function, ensuring the integrity of revenue and cash reporting across high-volume transactional sales channels. The successful candidate will be a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys working with large volumes of transactional data, investigating variances, improving processes, and operating independently within a fast-paced growth business. The hiring manager is looking for someone who can take ownership, think logically, and proactively identify issues and solutions without requiring close supervision.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Financial Controller and working closely with Commercial Finance, Operations and Technology teams, you will take ownership of the end-to-end Order to Cash process, ensuring revenue and cash are accurately recorded and reconciled across multiple sales channels and markets. This is a hands-on role requiring a naturally inquisitive individual who enjoys analysing complex transactional data, understanding customer purchasing journeys, and ensuring robust financial controls are maintained within a high-volume trading environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the reconciliation of revenue generated across multiple e-commerce, marketplace and direct-to-consumer sales channels.
  • Review and validate high-volume transaction data, including sales, refunds, promotions, discounts, shipping income and taxes.
  • Reconcile revenue reported across trading platforms to the general ledger, investigating and resolving variances.
  • Analyse customer returns, chargebacks, promotional activity and deductions, providing meaningful commentary to the wider business.
  • Produce month-end reporting relating to revenue recognised, deferred revenue and sales yet to be fulfilled.
  • Reconcile payment processor settlements and cash receipts to bank accounts, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Investigate discrepancies relating to fees, chargebacks, foreign currency movements, disputed transactions and aged balances.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations with clear supporting analysis and commentary.
  • Support month-end and year-end reporting requirements, including external audit requests.
  • Calculate and post appropriate journals relating to revenue, fees, VAT, sales taxes and other Order to Cash activities.
  • Partner with Commercial Finance to explain trading performance and revenue variances.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance controls, reporting and process efficiency within the Order to Cash cycle.
  • Support ongoing finance transformation and systems implementation projects.

About You

  • Experience within retail, consumer goods, e-commerce, direct-to-consumer, subscription-based, marketplace or high-volume transactional environments.
  • Previous experience in an Order to Cash, Revenue Accounting, Commercial Finance or Financial Accounting role.
  • Strong understanding of revenue recognition, deferred revenue, reconciliations and financial controls.
  • Comfortable working with large data sets and complex transaction volumes.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups and data analysis.
  • Experience reconciling trading platforms, payment providers and banking transactions.
  • Highly analytical with strong investigative and problem-solving skills.
  • A logical thinker who can work autonomously and take ownership of issues through to resolution.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-moving, changing business environment.
  • Part-qualified or qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, AAT).

Why Apply?

  • Join a rapidly expanding consumer business with ambitious growth plans.
  • Exposure to a modern multi-channel retail and e-commerce environment.
  • Opportunity to influence processes, controls and systems as the business scales.
  • High level of autonomy and ownership within a commercially focused finance team.
  • Competitive salary, annual review, bonus scheme, pension and 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.

Ideal backgrounds: D2C brands, online retail, consumer products, FMCG, subscription businesses, marketplaces, omnichannel retail, lifestyle brands, health wellness brands, beauty, home products or other fast-growing consumer-focused organisations with high transaction volumes.
