The Group Financial Controller will oversee financial control, reporting, and governance for the organisation, ensuring the finance function operates efficiently with robust controls, clear policies, and an ongoing focus on operational and strategic improvement. Based in Milton Keynes, this role will oversee transactional activities, lead month-end and year-end reporting processes, and drive compliance across VAT, Treasury, CIS, and statutory accounting. The post will play a pivotal leadership role, combining technical accounting expertise with process improvement and transformation capabilities in a rapidly evolving business environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the group-wide financial control and reporting function across all entities.
  • Manage transactional finance operations, including OTC and P2P processes, ensuring control and performance standards are upheld.
  • Execute monthly and year-end close processes with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and effectiveness.
  • Oversee group consolidation processes, including intercompany eliminations and reporting accuracy.
  • Prepare and review monthly management accounts and financial reports across the group.
  • Develop and enforce policies to ensure balance sheet control and issue resolution.
  • Navigate statutory accounting and audits with a focus on compliance and readiness.
  • Govern adherence to VAT, CIS, and Treasury requirements, ensuring effective oversight.
  • Implement finance policies, operating procedures, and transformation initiatives to strengthen capabilities.
  • Oversee reconciliations and reporting of key finance items such as accruals, prepayments, and revenue recognition.
  • Lead initiatives for systems enhancement, process improvement, control development, and team transformation.
  • Collaborate with the CFO and senior leadership to align business objectives and manage organisational risks.
  • Establish, develop, and lead a high-performing finance team, setting clear performance standards.
  • Support business integration efforts and strive toward financial standardisation across all group operations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Proven experience in a senior finance leadership role (e.g., Financial Controller or Group Financial Controller).
  • Proficiency in technical accounting, statutory reporting, consolidations, and audits.
  • Experience leading transactional finance operations as well as group reporting in multi-entity structures.
  • Knowledge of VAT, Treasury, and CIS requirements.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing finance strategies, policies, and system/process improvements.
  • Leadership capabilities with an ability to navigate a dynamic business landscape.
  • Skilled in Excel and proficient with finance-related systems.
  • Qualified accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA).
  • Practical experience within a centralised/shared service centre environment.
  • Background in supporting integrations, acquisitions, or broader business transformations.
  • Familiarity with designing operational and control frameworks.

£95,000 to £110,000 basic plus full benefits package and performance related bonus up to 20% to include Hybrid working (4 days a week office based).
