We are partnering with a fast-growing, contract-led services business to recruit a Financial Controller, based in Milton Keynes. This is a high-impact role within a dynamic and evolving environment, offering the opportunity to shape and modernise the finance function. The business is currently in the early stages of its finance transformation journey, with a number of processes still manual. As such, this role will suit a hands-on, forward-thinking finance leader who enjoys driving change, improving controls, and implementing scalable, automated solutions.

Reporting to the Finance Director, you will take ownership of group financial reporting, controls, and team leadership, while playing a key role in enhancing processes and supporting continued growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the group month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely reporting across multiple entities.
  • Oversee the preparation of consolidated financial statements and statutory accounts.
  • Own the balance sheet, ensuring robust reconciliations and strong financial control.
  • Lead and develop the transactional finance function, including AP and AR, ensuring efficient billing, collections, and supplier payment processes.
  • Oversee billing accuracy and revenue recognition processes within a contract-led environment, ensuring alignment with commercial terms.
  • Drive improvements across AP/AR processes, optimising working capital, cash collection, and creditor management.
  • Manage and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with operational and commercial stakeholders to provide insight and support decision-making.
  • Drive improvements in financial processes, systems, and controls, reducing reliance on manual activity.
  • Support the implementation of new systems and automation initiatives as part of the wider finance transformation.
  • Act as the key contact for external auditors, leading the year-end audit process.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, policies, and governance frameworks.
  • Lead on cash flow management, working capital optimisation, and financial risk management.
About You
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
  • Proven experience in a Financial Controller or Group Financial Controller role within a multi-entity environment.
  • Experience overseeing transactional finance teams (AP/AR/billing) and improving end-to-end finance processes.
  • Background in a contract-led or service-based business is highly advantageous.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge with experience of group consolidations.
  • Hands-on approach, comfortable operating in environments where processes are still developing.
  • Track record of driving process improvements, system implementations, or finance transformation initiatives.
  • Strong leadership capability, with experience building and developing teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Proactive, resilient, and adaptable in a fast-paced, evolving business.
Salary & Benefits

£100,000 – £110,000 base salary plus full benefits to include Hybrid working (Office based 4 days a week).
