Data Platform Lead/Head of Data - Microsoft Technology - Manchester

Up to 90k per annum plus excellent benefits & bonus - 1/2 days per week on-site expected, the rest from home. Full-time role

Data Platform Lead/Head of Data with strong Microsoft/Fabric skillsrequired for an organisation that is progressing through investment in technology & data transformation.

This is an exciting greenfield opportunity to lead the strategy and delivery on a data platform that will bring together multiple sources of data from various systems.

Ideally you will be a Senior Data Engineer/Lead that is looking to move up in your career and make a real difference in an organisation that is looking to invest and grow.

Within the role

  • Lead the end-to-end design and build of the organisation's data platform, utilising the Microsoft ecosystem (Azure/Fabric, Databricks, Power BI)
  • Develop scalable ETL/ETL pipelines, data models and reporting layers to support business-wide analytics.
  • Integrate data from core business systems across finance, CRM & operations.
  • Work with senior stakeholders to translate business needs into data solutions.
  • Set pragmatic data governance, security & quality standards.
  • Proven experience as a Senior Data Engineer, Data Platform Engineer or Data Lead.
  • Demonstrated ability to build a data platform from scratch in a low-maturity or greenfield environment would be highly desirable.
  • Experience working with multi-entity or professional services environments is advantageous.
  • Exposure to data governance tooling or AI-enablement use cases is beneficial.
  • Strong hands-on capability with SQL, Python, ETL/ELT pipelines and data modelling.
  • Solid experience across Azure data services, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks and Power BI.
  • Ability to engage senior stakeholders, shape direction and influence decision-making.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, security and quality frameworks.
