An established real estate investment manager is seeking a qualified accountant to join their team, taking ownership of accounting, operations, and loan servicing for a portfolio of real estate debt funds. This is a hands-on role working closely with senior fund managers, asset managers, and service providers to ensure best-in-class financial management and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee and manage the accounting, consolidation, and reporting processes for the funds (Yardi system), including quarterly and annual financial statements, investor reporting, and ad-hoc requests.
- Review fund accounts prepared by external administrators and ensure timely, accurate delivery.
- Lead the audit and tax compliance processes — including fee negotiations, scope setting, and coordination with external advisers.
- Act as a central point of contact for internal stakeholders, including fund managers, portfolio and asset management teams, and administrators.
- Manage fund cash flows — including investor capital calls, distributions, and recommendations to fund managers.
- Liaise across internal finance teams to ensure accurate and timely budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
- Oversee liquidation of inactive entities within fund structures.
- Support due diligence and structuring for new debt investments.
- Collaborate with banking partners to ensure smooth setup and management of pledged accounts.
- Oversee loan administration and servicing processes, including system setup for new deals, interest payment schedules, compliance testing, waterfall management, and borrower requests.
- Develop a deep understanding of the loan investment portfolio and ensure activities are aligned with loan agreements and fund objectives.
- Qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA preferred) with 1–2 years’ post-qualification experience.
- Experience in fund accounting or fund control, preferably in a Real Estate Fund Manager, or Debt fund.
- Solid understanding of loan agreement mechanics and key operational clauses.
- Strong Excel skills; experience with Yardi or similar general ledger systems preferred.
- Commercially minded, analytical, and detail-oriented.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, client-focused approach.
