We’re partnering with a well-established, mid-sized retail business on the Essex/Hertfordshire border to appoint an experienced Interim Finance Director for an initial 3–6 month assignment. This role requires a hands-on finance leader who is comfortable operating at both strategic and operational level. You’ll be leading the finance function, working closely with the C-suite, managing the transaction finance team, overseeing audit processes, and driving strong financial control across the business.

Non-Negotiables:

  • Retail and/or stock-based business experience
  • Immediately available or able to start at very short notice
  • Able to work on-site 4 days per week
  • Proven experience leading a full finance function in a mid-sized business environment (sub £250m revenue)

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the full finance function
  • Partner closely with the C-suite and senior stakeholders
  • Manage and support the transaction finance team
  • Lead the audit process and maintain strong financial controls
  • Oversee FP&A and provide commercial insight across the business
  • Support operational and strategic decision making
  • Support on systems implementations

This is not a role for someone who wants to stay at a strategic level only - we need a genuine “doer” who is happy getting into the detail whilst leading the wider finance function.
