Investigo are working with a well-established insurance business based in the City of London to appoint a Head of Finance. This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for financial control, regulatory compliance, and the development of a high-performing finance team. This role would suit a technically strong finance leader who combines deep insurance accounting knowledge with excellent people leadership and emotional intelligence.
The Role
Reporting to the CFO, the Head of Finance will play a critical role in ensuring robust financial governance across the business while acting as a trusted leader and mentor to the finance function. Key responsibilities include:
- Full ownership of the financial control environment, including month-end, year-end, statutory accounts, and audits
- Oversight of CASS 5 (client money) compliance, ensuring strong controls, governance, and regulatory reporting
- Leading and developing the finance team, fostering a collaborative, high-trust culture
- Acting as a key point of contact for auditors, regulators, and senior stakeholders
- Driving continuous improvement across processes, controls, and systems
- Providing technical accounting guidance across the business, including complex judgments and regulatory requirements
The Ideal Candidate
- You will be a qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent) with experience gained within insurance or a closely related regulated financial services environment.
- Proven CASS 5 experience and a strong understanding of client money regulations
- Deep technical accounting and financial control expertise
- Experience leading and developing finance teams
- High emotional intelligence, with the ability to manage, motivate, and support people through change
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the confidence to operate at senior leadership level
- A hands-on, accountable approach, balanced with strategic thinking
