An Application Architect is required to join a growing technology function in a leading financial organisation, acting as the design authority for application and platform architecture across a significant AI and digital transformation programme. This is a high-impact role ideal for someone who enjoys owning the architectural landscape, influencing build vs buy decisions, and enabling innovation at scale, without introducing unnecessary risk or technical debt.

Role Highlights

  • Act as design authority for application architecture across the organisation, assessing and approving proposed applications, platforms, and system changes against agreed standards, and providing architectural input into build vs buy decisions and vendor evaluations.
  • Define and maintain integration patterns, data flows, and interoperability standards, ensuring the full application estate is secure, well-integrated, and aligned with the broader technology strategy and governance framework.
  • Shape and enable a fast-moving AI and digital innovation programme, supporting Labs initiatives by designing scalable, well-governed architectures that allow safe experimentation without creating complexity or debt.
  • Identify and manage architectural risks and technical debt across the application estate, collaborating closely with delivery teams, product owners, and security and compliance stakeholders to guide solutions without owning delivery timelines.
  • Own the application landscape documentation, maintaining clear capability maps, system relationship diagrams, and data flow models that give the business a well-understood, consistently governed view of its technology estate.
