We're looking for a skilled Platform Engineer to join a growing organisation based in Central Birmingham. Within this role, you will play a key part in shaping how technology environments are designed, governed and optimised across the organisation.
You’ll take ownership of environment governance and lifecycle management, ensuring platforms are well-structured, controlled and aligned with business and delivery needs. Working closely with Architecture, CloudOps and DevOps teams, you’ll help improve overall visibility across the technology estate.
Key Responsibilities:- Own governance, lifecycle management and continuous optimisation of cloud and platform environments.
- Design and implement standardised environment structures and controls within Azure.
- Ensure environments are aligned to development, testing and business requirements.
- Support safe, controlled and predictable promotion of changes into production.
- Collaborate with Architecture, CloudOps and DevOps teams to improve platform efficiency.
- Reduce environment sprawl and optimise cost management across cloud platforms.
- Increase visibility and transparency across the technology landscape.
- Chair the Environment Management Group and drive best practices in environment governance.
- Define and implement repeatable processes for creating, maintaining and retiring environments.
- Proven experience in IT environment management, including provisioning and continuous improvement of environments.
- Strong understanding of environment governance, lifecycle management and cost control.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and enterprise SaaS platforms.
- Ability to implement environment standardisation and optimisation strategies.
- Experience working across Operations, Delivery and Governance teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills.
- A team-oriented mindset with the ability to influence and lead across functions.
Salary on offer is up to £74k/ annum plus excellent benefits including flexible working opportunities.
