This is not a typical Senior Finance Manager role. We are looking for a high-calibre finance leader (6+ years PQE) to operate as a true strategic partner to senior operational leaders across Supply Chain, Engineering, and Logistics in a large, complex, asset-intensive environment. With a remit comparable in scope and influence to a Head of Finance, this role sits at the heart of decision-making—shaping strategy, influencing multi-million-pound investment decisions, and driving operational performance across critical business functions. You will be expected to step away from the desk, embed yourself within operations, and build deep relationships with stakeholders both on-site and in the field.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Strategic Business Partnering
- Act as the trusted finance partner to senior Supply Chain, Engineering, and Procurement leaders
- Provide independent challenge and commercial insight to optimise cost, performance, and long-term value
- Influence decision-making across sourcing strategies, capital investment, and operational initiatives
- Build strong, credible relationships across operational sites—not just head office
- Performance & Decision Support
- Translate complex financial and operational data into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-term strategic planning
- Drive financial rigour across large-scale programmes and cost bases
- Develop and evaluate business cases, investment proposals, and transformation initiatives
- Commercial & Financial Leadership
- Own financial modelling across key programmes, including scenario analysis and long-term forecasting
- Provide insight on cost drivers, supplier economics, and operational performance
- Identify risks, opportunities, and interventions to improve delivery against plan
- Ensure decisions are aligned with cash flow, profitability, and long-term strategic goals
- Influence & Leadership
- Operate as a credible advisor to Directors and senior stakeholders, providing challenge and guidance
- Lead and develop high-performing teams (direct or indirect)
- Drive a culture of commercial accountability and financial discipline
- Represent finance in cross-functional forums, governance boards, and programme discussions
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with 6+ years PQE
- Proven experience in business partnering within supply chain, logistics, engineering, or similarly operational environments
- Background in large, complex organisations with multiple stakeholders and significant cost bases
- A confident, credible communicator who can challenge senior stakeholders and influence outcomes
- Track record of building relationships beyond finance—particularly in operational/on-site environments
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate financials into strategic insight
- Experience operating at Senior Manager level with exposure to Director-level stakeholders
What Makes This Role Different
- Scope and impact typically aligned to a Head of Finance role
- High visibility with senior leadership and executive stakeholders
- Opportunity to shape major operational and strategic decisions
- A true “out-of-the-seat” business partnering role—not desk-bound FP&A
- Exposure to complex, high-value programmes and transformation initiatives
Package
- Up to £110,000 base salary
- Up to 30% bonus
- Pension, share schemes, and flexible benefits
- Additional lifestyle and travel benefits
