A key role within the finance function, the Accounting Manager will take ownership of technical accounting, statutory reporting, lease accounting (including IFRS 16), and tax compliance across the business. The role suits someone hands-on, detail-driven, and confident operating within a growing, evolving finance environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Statutory & Group Reporting
- Prepare statutory accounts at both company and Group level, including full consolidations.
- Take responsibility for quarterly Group reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Oversee the external audit process and act as the key point of contact for external auditors.
- Technical Accounting
- Lead on all technical accounting matters, ensuring ongoing compliance with FRS 102 across the business.
- Manage and maintain all aspects of IFRS 16 and lease accounting, including recognition, measurement, and ongoing updates to the lease portfolio.
- Accurately account for FX contracts under both hedge and non-hedge accounting, selecting the correct treatment for each instrument.
- Controls, Systems & Process Improvement
- Assess and enhance internal financial controls, ensuring they are appropriate for the scale and complexity of the business.
- Drive improvements across systems and processes, leading finance projects aimed at automation and efficiency gains.
- Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring high-quality working papers and robust documentation.
- Tax & Compliance
- Own all tax compliance requirements for the business, working closely with the Group accounting team to ensure all deadlines are achieved.
- Prepare quarterly VAT returns and ensure all indirect tax filings are accurate and submitted on time.
Key Skills & Experience
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with strong technical accounting experience.
- Proven experience preparing statutory accounts and managing audit processes.
- Solid understanding of IFRS 16, lease accounting, and FRS 102.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex accounting issues.
- Experience working within a Group structure desirable but not essential.
- Confidence working with senior stakeholders and leading cross-functional initiatives.
