The Financial Controller will play a key role in overseeing financial operations across multiple entities, including venue operations, partnerships, and central costs. This is a hands-on leadership position, combining day-to-day financial management with reporting, compliance, and continuous improvement. Working closely with operational leadership, FP&A, and international stakeholders, you will ensure financial accuracy, support decision-making, and drive improvements in processes and controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and develop members of the finance team, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture.
- Promote accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth within the team.
- Process Improvement & Operational Excellence
- Identify and implement improvements to financial processes, controls, and reporting accuracy.
- Leverage automation and technology to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Support wider business initiatives and cross-functional projects as required.
- Month-End Close & Balance Sheet Oversight
- Oversee month-end close activities, including preparation and review of journals.
- Ensure timely and accurate balance sheet reconciliations, resolving discrepancies as needed.
- Maintain the integrity of financial data and reporting processes.
- Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting across all business divisions.
- Prepare statutory accounts and manage audit processes, tax filings, VAT, and other compliance requirements.
- Support group reporting requirements, including alignment with international standards.
- Forecasting, Budgeting & Financial Planning
- Work closely with FP&A to support budgeting and forecasting cycles.
- Provide insight into financial performance and variance analysis to aid decision-making.
- Assist with capital expenditure tracking and forward planning.
What You Bring
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline; professional qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA) preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in a financial leadership role, ideally within a multi-entity environment.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience working with international or group reporting structures is advantageous.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to lead, develop, and motivate teams.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Advanced Excel and financial systems expertise.
- Exposure to process improvement, automation, or AI-driven finance tools is beneficial.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
