Overview We are seeking a commercially minded Commercial Finance Analyst / FP&A Analyst to join our finance team in Watford. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys partnering with the business, analysing financial performance, and supporting strategic decision‑making. You will play a key part in budgeting, forecasting, month‑end reporting, and providing insight to senior stakeholders.
This position suits a part‑qualified finance professional (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) looking to develop within a fast‑paced, commercially focused environment.
Key Responsibilities Commercial Finance & Business Partnering
- Support commercial teams with financial insight to drive performance and improve profitability.
- Analyse sales, margin, pricing, and customer performance, identifying drivers and trends.
- Provide data-driven recommendations to senior leadership to influence commercial strategy.
- Develop and maintain financial models to support business cases, scenario analysis, and investment decisions.
- Monitor KPIs, highlighting risks and opportunities across revenue and cost lines.
FP&A (Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning)
- Assist with the annual budget and regular reforecasting cycles.
- Consolidate inputs from multiple business units and challenge assumptions where appropriate.
- Prepare variance analysis, bridging performance between actuals, forecasts, and prior periods.
- Support long-term strategic planning and rolling forecasts.
Month-End Responsibilities
- Perform month-end analysis including revenue, gross margin, opex and overhead reporting.
- Prepare journals (accruals, prepayments, adjustments) where required.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in alignment with group deadlines.
- Reconcile key accounts and work closely with the Financial Accounting team to ensure data integrity.
- Create dashboards and financial packs for senior management review.
Data & Systems
- Work with Excel and BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or similar) to improve reporting efficiency.
- Enhance existing reporting frameworks and develop automated processes where possible.
- Maintain financial models and ensure data accuracy and consistency.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Part‑qualified or recently qualified ACCA / CIMA / ACA (or equivalent experience).
- Strong analytical and commercial mindset.
- Excel skills at an advanced level (pivot tables, lookups, modelling).
- Experience with BI/reporting tools preferred.
- Excellent communication skills – able to present complex data clearly.
- Comfortable working with stakeholders across multiple teams.
- Proactive, detail‑oriented, and able to work in a fast‑paced environment.
