A Software Engineer is required to join a delivery-focused engineering team working on the development of modern, full-stack applications for a key client environment. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working closely with end users and stakeholders, contributing directly to the design, build and improvement of production systems. The work is delivered in a collaborative, agile setting, with a strong emphasis on clean code, secure development and engineering best practice. This role is site-based in Derby and candidates must be eligible for SC clearance.
Responsibilities
- 1 year of experience as a software engineer
- Design, build and maintain full-stack web applications using modern Python frameworks (Django, FastAPI, Flask) and JavaScript/TypeScript in React
- Develop and manage SQL-based data models across relational databases
- Work within an Agile team, contributing to stand-ups, sprint planning and retrospectives
- Apply secure development practices, including OWASP standards and authentication protocols
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and deployments
- Participate in code reviews and support continuous improvement of engineering processes
- Collaborate with stakeholders in a client-facing delivery environment
- Maintain familiarity with Docker, Linux, Azure DevOps, or other modern tooling where applicable
