About InvestEngine
We’re a London-based fintech on a mission to make ETF investing simple and accessible. Over 150,000 clients have trusted us with over £3.5 billion in assets — and we’re just getting started. We’ve been featured by MoneyWeek, Finder and Forbes, and we’re growing fast with big ambitions.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to join our Pensions Team as its first dedicated frontend engineer. The team looks after around 100,000 SIPP accounts and thousands of pension transfers every month. You’ll own our pensions web journeys end to end — from clarifying requirements with Product, Design and Backend to building, testing, releasing and checking how features behave in production. Your first big goal is the frontend scope of a pension administrator migration: new account-opening flows, updated legal documents and in-app changes for existing customers. The team is backend-heavy, so you’ll be the frontend voice in technical decisions: shaping API contracts with backend engineers, setting how frontend work is reviewed and tested in Pensions, and later onboarding a second frontend engineer.
What You’ll Do
- Build and maintain customer-facing pension journeys in React and TypeScript
- Own features from refinement to production, shipping web in the same sprint as backend
- Agree API contracts, states and error handling with backend engineers and designers
- Build complex, multi-step forms for account opening, transfers and declarations
- Write unit and component tests, and release safely behind feature flags
- Monitor features in production and fix issues quickly
- Work in a large, long-lived codebase and follow our documented frontend architecture
- Use AI coding tools (Claude Code, Codex) in daily work — and review what they produce
- Set frontend review and testing practices in the team, and onboard our next frontend engineer
- Collaborate with Product, Design, QA, Operations and the wider frontend group
What We’re Looking For
- Commercial experience with React and TypeScript as your main tools over the last 2+ years, in a large, long-lived codebase
- Production experience with a state manager beyond component state (Effector, Redux or similar)
- Solid REST API integration skills, including loading and error states
- Experience working closely with backend engineers — discussing and shaping API contracts, not just consuming them
- Experience building complex or multi-step forms in production
- Unit or component testing as part of your daily work (Jest, React Testing Library or similar)
- General understanding of web accessibility (semantic HTML, keyboard navigation, ARIA)
- Experience working within a documented frontend architecture
- Strong ownership: you clarify unclear requirements before you start and see features through to production
- Clear communication with engineers and non-technical stakeholders
- English B2+ and fluent Russian
Nice to Have
- Hands-on backend experience — commercial or personal projects
- Experience building a Backend for Frontend (BFF) layer
- Experience planning frontend architecture and breaking work down for other engineers
- Experience with Effector Playwright or other end-to-end testing tools
- Feature flags and error monitoring (GrowthBook, Sentry or similar)
- React Native experience
- Experience in fintech or another regulated industry — not required, we’ll get you up to speed
How We Work
We’re a lean, collaborative team where engineers have a real influence on product, architecture and engineering culture. We value ownership, curiosity and continuous improvement. We start from the customer problem rather than the ticket, and we pick the simplest solution that works. In Pensions, you’ll be the team’s frontend owner — the person who makes sure pension features reach customers on web at the same pace as the backend.
What We Offer
- Impact from day one — own the web side of a business-critical pensions product
- Real ownership — shape how frontend works in the team from the start
- Growth — onboard and mentor the next frontend engineer joining the team
- Modern tooling — TypeScript, React, Effector, Jest, Playwright, Storybook, Claude Code and Codex
- Remote-first and flexible — work from anywhere, at your own pace
- Unlimited vacation — take time off when you need it, no fixed limits
- Supportive team — thoughtful, skilled colleagues who care about quality and results
Hiring Process
- Intro call with our Talent team
- Technical interview with the Frontend team (about 1 hour, case-based discussion, no live coding)
- Gamified cognitive assessment to understand how you think and problem-solve
- Final conversation with our CTO
