As part of a team that challenges convention and strives for outperformance, you'll help shape bold solutions for clients who expect something more than the ordinary.

This is an influential technology leadership role with responsibility for building and delivering the strategy that will enable Private Markets to grow, protect revenue and operate at scale. Working across five specialist investment strategies and multiple international markets, you will turn complex business, client and regulatory priorities into a clear, integrated technology roadmap.

You will have the opportunity to modernise platforms, strengthen data and digital capability, improve the client and investor experience, and create the foundations for sustainable growth across a strategically important part of Investec.

Private Markets sits within Investec UK Bank and comprises five specialist investment strategies: Direct Lending, Fund Solutions, Real Estate, Aviation, and Energy & Infrastructure. Investec Alternatives Investment Management sits alongside these businesses, providing access to external investors.

Reporting to the UK CIO, you will lead delivery teams operating across the UK, Europe, the US, South Africa and India through a matrix structure. As the primary technology partner to Private Markets, you will work closely with business leadership and senior stakeholders across Digital and Technology, Operations, Risk and Finance. You will also partner with technology leaders across Investment Banking, Corporate Banking and the wider Group to maximise the use of shared platforms, capabilities, data and delivery expertise.

The environment is collaborative, commercially focused and highly regulated, requiring a leader who can combine strategic thinking with pragmatic execution and build an inclusive, accountable and delivery-focused culture.

Key responsibilities

  • Own and deliver the Private Markets technology, data and digital strategy, translating business and regulatory priorities into a clear, prioritised roadmap.
  • Act as a trusted technology partner to senior leaders, shaping investment decisions and balancing commercial priorities, risk and delivery.
  • Lead the transformation of the technology estate, creating secure, resilient and scalable platforms that support growth and the end-to-end client and investor lifecycle.
  • Drive delivery of the Corporate Lending Platform and technology capabilities supporting Investec Alternatives, third-party capital and investor servicing.
  • Build a trusted, governed and AI-ready data foundation, using data, AI and automation to improve decision-making, efficiency and client experience.
  • Own delivery, operational resilience and technology risk, ensuring clear accountability and effective management of investment, dependencies and outcomes.
  • Lead and develop high-performing technology teams across multiple geographies, building capability, accountability and a culture of continuous improvement.

Core skills and knowledge

  • Significant technology leadership experience within asset management, private markets, third-party capital and/or global distribution, alongside strong banking domain expertise.
  • A strong track record of delivering business and technology transformation, platform modernisation and technology-enabled growth.
  • The ability to understand complex specialist businesses and translate commercial strategy into practical technology roadmaps, operating models and measurable delivery outcomes.
  • Strong commercial judgement, regulatory awareness and expertise in technology risk, controls and operational resilience.
  • Executive-level credibility, with the confidence to influence, challenge and collaborate across complex stakeholder groups.
  • Experience leading teams and delivery across matrixed, international or federated organisations.
  • A data-driven approach to decision-making, with experience using technology and analytics to improve growth, operational efficiency and client outcomes.
  • A collaborative, pragmatic and decisive leadership style, with a clear commitment to inclusion, accountability and developing others.
