The EMEA Investment Risk team is responsible for Risk oversight of all investment management activities undertaken within Invesco’s EMEA based investment centres. We deliver Investment Teams and business leadership risk management information targeted to improve and support decision-making capabilities. We provide Investment Teams with a ‘challenge and advisory’ business partner by bringing value-add perspectives, informative data, and insightful analysis.
We’re searching for our next Investment Risk Manager for our team in Henley-on-Thames or London. You could be involved in understanding, monitoring and anticipating the risks of various portfolios, executing ad-hoc projects that involve devising and/or implementing new ways to analyse risks, or ways to analyse new types of risks, and explaining them to various investment professionals.
You could also be involved in:
- Face off to the Investment Teams and act as their main point of contact for Investment Risk related queries or analysis requests.
- Build strong working relationships with, and provide informative and useful challenge to, Investment Teams and Fund Managers regarding decisions made within their portfolios from an Investment Risk perspective.
- Monitor and assess Portfolio Risks (e.g. Factor Risk correlation, Stress Testing) using risk models and analytics tools. Bring up / take further action as required to ensure resolution.
- Monitor adherence to processes, mandates and client expectations as advised for portfolios.
- Ensure appropriate implementation of the Risk Management Framework, Policy & Process (RMP).
- Perform risk analysis on portfolios and benchmarks, reporting on market, liquidity and concentration risk. Typical measures include forecast tracking error, downside risk and VAR (incl. back-testing and stress-testing).
- Communicate, both in writing and verbally, Investment Risk matters to Investment Teams, Senior Management & Fund Boards.
- Develop reports / presentations and present in meetings to a variety of business partners, Senior Management and clients (note specifically without providing recommendations to clients).
- Partner with members of the Risk Measurement (analytics-focused) team to continue to strengthen data quality, explore further analytics capabilities and deliver tools.
- Contribute to the continued improvement of risk management frameworks, policies and internal risk-related projects.
Sound interesting? You’ll need financial sector experience, ideally in the asset management industry with experience analysing portfolio risks. You worked with fund managers and helped them understand the risks in their portfolios preferred. You have an excellent understanding of investments with a detailed knowledge of factor models, risk modelling and its application. You have proven knowledge of SQL, Excel VBA, R and Python desirable along with experience in statistical software. You have a good understanding of financial instruments and a familiarity with international markets. Experience with one or more of the following systems would be desirable: Barra, PORT, BlackRock, RiskMetrics, CRD.
You are able to optimally operate in a team-oriented and collaborative environment. You have excellent problem-solving capability and can operate autonomously and independently. You are a highly motivated self-starter with attention to detail with a curious nature. You have good written and oral communication skills. You have the ability to adeptly field in-depth investment-related questions regarding a broad range of quantitative topics. You manage your time and projects appropriately and are able to work under occasional time-pressure.
