Join a service that is transforming outcomes for children and young people. At Inverclyde Children's Services, we are investing in relationship-based practice, early intervention, workforce development and service innovation so that social workers can focus on what matters most: improving the lives of children and families.
As a Social Worker within the service, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference through direct work with children, young people and their families. Inverclyde is committed to delivering high-quality trauma-informed practice, underpinned by the principles of The Promise. We have implemented Signs of Safety and Healing as our practice framework, supporting strengths-based, collaborative and transparent work with children, families and partner agencies.
We are looking for talented and committed social workers who share our values and ambitions to join us:
- Request for Assistance: Our RFA Team is the front door to Children and Families Social Work and plays a vital role in ensuring children and families receive the right support at the right time. You will contribute to screening, assessment and proportionate decision-making, working closely with partners to identify needs, risks and appropriate responses at the earliest opportunity.
- Community Social Work: Our Community Social Work Teams provide opportunities to build meaningful, long-term relationships with children, young people and families. You will support children involved in child protection processes, children who are looked after away from home, and those requiring permanence planning, helping to achieve lasting and positive outcomes.
- Disabled Children and Young People: Within this focussed team, you will work with children and young people who have complex health and disability-related needs. You will undertake assessments, develop tailored support plans and champion SDS, helping children, young people and their families achieve greater choice, control and flexibility.
- Intensive Support to Young People: This newly redesigned team provides targeted support to young people who require intensive intervention, typically aged 12 and above. You will work with young people experiencing, or at risk of exploitation, support those involved in justice processes, and help care experienced young people plan successfully for independence.
As a Social Worker in Inverclyde, you will:
- Use the Signs of Safety and Healing framework to inform assessment, planning and decision-making.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with children, families and partner agencies.
- Contribute to positive and sustainable outcomes through strengths-based practice.
- Benefit from high-quality supervision and a culture of continuous professional development.
