We are partnered with an Engineering client who are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a part or fully qualified finance professional (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent) who is looking to build on their experience in a supportive and fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will support day-to-day financial operations, contribute to month-end reporting, and ensure the accuracy of financial records. This role offers exposure to a range of accounting tasks and the opportunity to grow within the finance function.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assisting in the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports.
  • Processing accounts payable and receivable transactions.
  • Performing bank reconciliations and resolving discrepancies.
  • Supporting the preparation of VAT/GST returns and ensuring compliance.
  • Assisting with month-end and year-end procedures, including journals, accruals, and prepayments.
  • Reconciling balance sheet accounts and investigating variances.
  • Providing documentation and support for internal and external audits.
  • Supporting budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Liaising with suppliers, customers, and stakeholders to resolve finance-related queries.
  • Supporting the wider finance team with reporting and administrative tasks.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Full or part-qualified in ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or similar.
  • Previous experience in a finance or accounting role.
  • Solid understanding of VAT and multicurrency accounting.
  • Experience working in professional services or consultancy is desirable.
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g. Sage, Xero, QuickBooks) and Excel.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
