This is an exciting opportunity to join our innovative and enthusiastic Diabetes and Endocrinology team. We provide a full range of diabetes and endocrine services including collaboration with the tertiary services provided at NBT: regional Pituitary and Adrenal surgery, Tier 3 Weight management as well as the Vascular Hub.
Applicants are required to be on the specialist register for Diabetes and Endocrinology as well as General Internal Medicine, and have a CCT in both (or equivalent) or be within six months of obtaining it by the interview date. CESR applicants are welcome and must have their CESR in place at the time of interview.
There are two vacancies one for 8 PAs and one for 0.9 PAs.
Main duties of the job include joining a dynamic department practicing from a newly built, state of the art 800-bed hospital. You will join the existing WTE NHS Consultants providing Diabetes and Endocrinology service to our population of 500,000 in Bristol and South Gloucestershire.
We are principally looking for new colleagues with the ambition to help us evolve our models of care to deliver outstanding and personally delivered services to our patients. The postholder will have commitments within the base Acute trust (NBT), Endocrine and Diabetes department at NBT. The appointee will be contractually accountable to the North Bristol NHS Trust for the provision of services.
All consultants are required to undergo an annual appraisal carried out in accordance with the Trust policy. Consultants are also required to take an active and co-operative approach to their job planning, which will be reviewed on an annual basis by the Clinical Director.
The service is led by a specialty lead (Dr Elizabeth Cheyne) supported by a General Manager (Graham Bartlett) & Specialty Manager (Jade Venning).

Job responsibilities include an indicative job plan included in the Job Advertisement. The job plan will be reviewed by the Post Holder and Specialty Lead within three months after commencement in post. The exact timetable will be flexible, arranged in discussion with the Specialty Lead.
Essential training and experience required includes recent experience and familiarity of UK hospital systems and practices, and the ability to provide expert clinical opinion across a wide range of Diabetic and Endocrine conditions.
Desirable qualifications include specialist interests within Diabetes & Endocrinology, completion of a general management course, and demonstration of involvement in clinical directorate management.
Essential other requirements include excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to work independently as well as part of the wider multidisciplinary team, and the ability to lead a team and form effective working relationships within a team.
