In this broad, newly created role, the Financial Accountant will support the Finance Manager with key deliverables across accounting, reporting and controls for the EMEA region. This is an initial 12-month FTC with a strong possibility of going permanent.
What You'll Be Doing
- Accounts Payable
- Oversee the full accounts payable cycle, including processing supplier invoices and managing car hire billing.
- Administer the creditor sub-ledger, keeping master data accurate and up to date.
- Own the aged creditors report and ensure the treasury team's entries reflect outstanding balances correctly.
- Raise purchase orders and manage the corporate credit card process.
- Champion the rollout of a vendor capture programme within the ERP to streamline invoice processing.
- Support the implementation of a new vendor portal.
- Fixed Assets
- Maintain and own the fixed asset register, recording additions, disposals, write-offs and depreciation.
- Carry out regular reviews of assets for obsolescence and impairment.
- Expenses
- Lead the end-to-end expenses process — enforcing policy compliance and posting all related accounting entries.
- Handle overspend and fine deduction entries with accuracy and attention to detail.
- VAT & Compliance
- Prepare and submit EU VAT returns, validating tax coding and ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Reporting & Controls
- Perform inter-company and balance sheet reconciliations on a regular basis.
- Act as the primary point of contact for the finance team's shared inbox, managing supplier and employee queries.
- Support the Finance Manager in ensuring adherence to internal policies and financial control frameworks.
- Assist in the delivery of the annual external audit process.
Key Requirements
- Minimum three years’ finance experience – ideally AP, fixed assets and VAT exposure
- AAT qualified, or ACCA / CIMA part qualified (desirable)
- Strong Excel, organisational and communication skills
