A leading real estate group with significant international footprint is seeking an exceptional Group Financial Controller to lead its global financial control and reporting function. This is a pivotal leadership role, offering exposure at the highest level of the organisation and playing a critical part in shaping the Group’s financial governance, external reporting strategy, and internal control framework. The role will be particularly suited to a technically strong finance leader with experience operating in complex, multinational, and regulated environments.
Reporting into senior executive leadership, the Group Financial Controller will be responsible for the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of the Group’s financial reporting under IFRS and US GAAP, with responsibility for UK Listing requirements and preparation for potential US SEC reporting.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the global financial close and consolidation process, ensuring high-quality reporting under IFRS and US GAAP.
- Oversee the preparation and review of Group financial statements, MD&A, and related disclosures.
- Ensure compliance with UK Listing Authority requirements and readiness for potential SEC filings (e.g. 10-Q and 10-K).
- Lead the implementation of US GAAP and SEC reporting frameworks across the Group.
- Provide strategic oversight to technical accounting and external reporting activities.
- Review and approve accounting papers and policy interpretations for complex transactions.
- Ensure consistent application of accounting policies across a diverse international group.
- Own senior relationships with external auditors and lead annual and interim audit processes.
- Strengthen and maintain a robust internal control framework over financial reporting.
- Support the design and implementation of SOX-compliant controls.
- Drive automation and enhanced reporting through ERP and consolidation systems.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing global finance team.
- Partner with regional finance teams and shared service centres.
- Act as a key finance partner to the CFO and executive leadership on strategic initiatives, including M&A and capital markets activity.
- Fully qualified accountant (audit trained ACA / CPA / CA preferred).
- Significant experience in senior finance roles within multinational, publicly listed or highly complex organisations.
- Experience with IFRS and US GAAP; exposure to SEC reporting and/or SOX highly desirable.
- Proven ability to lead and influence in a matrix, international environment.
- Technically strong, detail-oriented, and confident operating under tight deadlines.
- Comfortable working with ambiguity in a fast-paced, evolving organisation.
- Experience with ERP and consolidation systems.
