Senior Associate / Managing Associate – Restructuring & Insolvency

London | Hybrid Working

An established and highly regarded London law firm is looking to recruit a Senior Associate or Managing Associate into its growing Restructuring & Insolvency team.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic and forward-thinking practice handling a broad range of interesting, complex and high-profile restructuring and insolvency matters.

The team has an impressive and varied practice, advising both corporate entities and individuals. The work is not exclusively contentious, with a significant proportion of the practice involving non-contentious, preventative and strategic advisory work across the restructuring and insolvency spectrum.

The successful candidate will join a collegiate and supportive environment, with the opportunity to play an important role in the continued development of the team, take ownership of client relationships and help mentor and develop junior lawyers.

The Role

You will advise a broad range of clients, including insolvency practitioners, corporates, directors, lenders, shareholders and individuals, across contentious and non-contentious restructuring and insolvency matters.

Your work is likely to include:

  • Administrations, including appointments, trading issues, pre-packs and floating charge matters.
  • Receiverships, from appointment and management through to asset sales.
  • Company Voluntary Arrangements (CVAs) and restructuring plans.
  • Members' Voluntary Liquidations (MVLs), including strategic advice, procedural matters, indemnities and early distributions.
  • Creditors' Voluntary Liquidations (CVLs), including pre-insolvency strategy, creditor issues and SIP 2 investigations.
  • Compulsory liquidations.
  • Antecedent transactions, directors' duties, misfeasance and related contentious and preventative work.
  • Directors' disqualification proceedings.
  • Disclaimer in liquidation.
  • Directors' duties advice and ongoing trading guidance.
  • Personal insolvency and bankruptcy-related matters.

There will also be opportunities to develop experience in wider advisory areas of restructuring and insolvency.

The Ideal Candidate

We are keen to hear from experienced Senior Associates or Managing Associates with:

  • Strong technical knowledge and experience across both contentious and non-contentious restructuring and insolvency law.
  • Experience advising a broad range of stakeholders, including insolvency practitioners, companies, directors, lenders, shareholders and individuals.
  • Exposure to a wide range of corporate insolvency processes, ideally including administrations, receiverships, CVAs, MVLs, CVLs and compulsory liquidations.
  • Experience of directors' duties, antecedent transactions and insolvency-related litigation.
  • A genuine interest in the continued development of the restructuring and insolvency market and a desire to grow their own practice.
  • The ability to manage a varied caseload, prioritise effectively and deliver high-quality work to tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with a client-focused and commercial approach.
  • Experience supervising, mentoring and supporting junior lawyers and paralegals.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across the wider firm.

Experience of bankruptcy and associated post-bankruptcy matters would also be beneficial.

The Opportunity

This is a particularly attractive opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their career within a growing and ambitious practice.

You will have the opportunity to work closely with senior members of the team, contribute to its strategic development, build client relationships and play an active role in mentoring more junior colleagues.

The firm offers a supportive and flexible working environment, with a hybrid working policy allowing employees to work remotely for at least 50% of their time, alongside additional flexible working arrangements.
