A top international law firm is seeking a mid-level Construction & Projects Associate (2.5–5 PQE) to join its growing Real Estate, Projects & Infrastructure team in London. This is a standout opportunity for a construction lawyer looking to broaden their experience into projects and energy transition work, within a practice that offers a genuinely diverse and international workload.
You will join a well-established and expanding team that combines non-contentious construction expertise with a strong projects and infrastructure offering—a relatively unique platform in the London market.
The role will support:
- A recently joined ex-Magic Circle partner with a strong real estate development and construction practice
- A highly regarded partner specialising in energy, infrastructure and project development, particularly in the renewables and energy transition space
This dual exposure offers a rare chance to work across both:
- High-end real estate development projects (including complex regeneration and mixed-use schemes)
- Major energy and infrastructure projects (including cutting-edge energy transition work)
On the construction side, you will advise on:
- Complex commercial real estate developments (mixed-use, BTR, PBSA, high-end residential, industrial, hospitality and retail)
- Drafting and negotiating construction documentation (including JCT and bespoke forms)
- Development and forward funding structures
- Construction aspects of real estate and finance transactions
On the projects side, you will gain exposure to:
- Energy and infrastructure projects across sectors such as:
- Renewables (solar, wind, battery storage)
- Hydrogen, carbon capture and energy from waste
- LNG and broader energy transition initiatives
The full project lifecycle, including:
- Structuring, procurement and delivery
- Asset management and operational matters
- Refinancing and secondary transactions
The team works on both UK and international matters, often collaborating with offices across Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
You will:
- Take the lead on smaller matters and work closely with partners on complex transactions
- Draft and negotiate key construction and project documentation
- Advise clients on risk in the context of wider commercial transactions
- Manage workstreams and liaise directly with clients
- Support junior lawyers and trainees
- Contribute to business development and client relationship building
The ideal candidate will have:
- England & Wales qualification (or equivalent) with 2.5–5 years’ PQE
- Strong non-contentious construction experience from a leading firm
- Experience advising on commercial real estate development projects
- Familiarity with standard form contracts (particularly JCT) and exposure to bespoke drafting
- A genuine interest in developing experience across projects and infrastructure (prior experience beneficial but not essential)
- Strong technical skills, attention to detail and commercial awareness
Unique opportunity to combine construction and projects work. Direct exposure to leading partners in real estate and energy transition. Work on high-profile UK and international matters. Join a growing, strategically important team. Strong platform for long-term career development and specialisation.
