Job Description
Tax Associate Solicitor
Silver Circle Law firm
London
The Firm
A leading full-service law firm with a strong reputation in Asset Management, M&A, and Dispute Resolution & Investigations is seeking a Transactional Tax Associate to join its London-based team. The firm advises a diverse client base including asset managers across private equity, venture, credit, infrastructure, and real estate; listed and private companies; financial institutions; and other enterprises involved in large and complex UK and cross-border transactions.
The firm is recognised for providing high-quality client service while fostering a supportive, inclusive, and engaging work environment where people can thrive professionally and personally.
The Department
This is one of the City’s top-ranked tax practices — known for its technical excellence, commercial mindset, and deep sector expertise. The team advises clients on a wide range of tax matters, with particular strength in private equity transactional tax, fund structuring, infrastructure investment, capital markets, finance, and real estate.
Associates benefit from a broad variety of high-quality, complex work, alongside opportunities to collaborate across other specialist tax sub-groups such as Asset Management and Incentives & Remuneration.
The team operates in a highly collaborative and inclusive environment, with a strong commitment to diversity and professional development. Structured training (including weekly department meetings and milestone training sessions), room-sharing mentorship, and cross-departmental collaboration are all integral to the group’s success.
The firm does not have a formal billable hours target, and most lawyers record approximately 1,500 hours per year, reflecting a healthy balance between client work and development opportunities.
The Role
The firm is looking for a 3–4 PQE Associate to join its Transactional Tax team. This is a transactional role, not a pure structuring role — ideal for someone experienced in drafting and negotiating transaction documents as well as advising on structuring and related tax matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Advising on the tax aspects of private M&A transactions, including work for financial sponsors, corporate shareholders, management teams, and finance providers.
- Providing tax advice on financing transactions, real estate deals, restructurings, and management equity incentives.
- Advising on IPOs, fundraisings, and other capital markets transactions.
- Collaborating with other tax sub-groups on cross-functional matters.
- Potential for client and overseas secondments.
Candidate Profile
- England & Wales qualified solicitor with 3–4 years’ PQE, ideally gained at a top-tier City or international firm.
- Strong experience in transactional tax, consistent with PQE level.
- Excellent academic background.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Commercial awareness and sound transaction management ability.
- Collaborative team player with a proactive approach and genuine enthusiasm for the practice area.
- Commitment to contributing to the firm’s inclusive and collegiate culture.
