We have partnered with a long‑established, profitable Financial Institutions platform in the London market that is looking to add an experienced underwriter into its talented FI team.
Key Focus
- Underwrite a sizeable Financial Institutions portfolio across both Company and Lloyd’s platforms
- Mixture of Financial Institutions including banks, insurers, asset managers etc. with meaningful open‑market exposure.
- Expected to contribute directly to both renewal retention and disciplined new business growth on a material, multi‑tens‑of‑millions book.
Key Responsibilities
- Taking ownership of complex FI risks, applying strong technical underwriting judgement and trading skills
- Building and deepening senior broker relationships in the London FI market; representing the portfolio credibly at a senior level
- Helping to shape portfolio strategy (territory mix, line size deployment, product focus) in line with current market conditions and performance
- Acting as a senior referral point within the team
- Working closely with international colleagues in a matrixed environment to coordinate approach on shared or global accounts
Skills & Experience Required
- Solid FI underwriting track record in the London market (Company and/or Lloyd’s); open‑minded on specific FI sub‑class
- Typically 5–10+ years’ relevant experience, comfortable handling a diverse, international FI portfolio
- Strong trading presence and credibility with brokers; able to originate, negotiate and close complex deals
- Balanced mindset: commercially astute but disciplined around portfolio quality, remedial action and performance
