The opportunity
Our client is a specialist clean energy investment platform focused on providing debt capital to high-growth renewable energy businesses across Sub-Saharan Africa.
They are seeking an Investment Director to lead investment activity, transaction execution, portfolio oversight and stakeholder engagement.
Responsibilities
- Lead the origination and execution of private debt investments into renewable energy SMEs.
- Assess investment opportunities, including commercial, financial and credit analysis.
- Structure and negotiate debt transactions alongside management teams and external stakeholders.
- Lead due diligence and investment committee processes.
- Monitor portfolio companies and support ongoing value creation and risk management.
- Build relationships with renewable energy businesses, investors, DFIs and other key stakeholders.
- Contribute to fund strategy, capital deployment and broader business development.
Requirements
- 10+ years experience in private debt, private credit, structured finance, investment banking or direct investing.
- Strong transaction execution and investment structuring experience.
- Experience investing in or financing renewable energy or infrastructure businesses.
- Understanding of SME financing and growth-stage businesses.
- Experience working across Sub-Saharan Africa or other emerging markets.
- Strong commercial judgement, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
