Risk Director

Overview:

Inuka is working with a global impact fund operating across Africa, Latin America, and South Asia. They are seeking a Risk Director to lead all aspects of risk management spanning credit, operational, liquidity, country, and currency risk, while supporting strategic planning and ensuring strong compliance practices.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and oversee risk management frameworks, policies, and systems
• Define risk appetite and monitor adherence across all activities
• Conduct investment reviews, stress testing, and manage risk registers
• Report to the Risk Committee and Board, highlighting key exposures
• Oversee compliance (in partnership with consultants), including regulatory audits, anti-corruption, and data protection training
• Maintain and evolve key risk indicators (KRIs)
• Contribute to fundraising efforts and align risk strategy with business goals
• Lead with integrity and promote a culture of accountability across teams

Requirements:

• 12+ years in venture debt or private credit, preferably in emerging markets
• Executive-level experience in risk leadership
• Deep knowledge of credit risk, investment risk, and compliance frameworks
• Familiarity with impact investing and the off-grid energy sector is an advantage
