Objectives of this role
- Support the various departments within the organisation in all aspects of GIS data integration and analysis
- Train and mentor junior GIS analysts and other supporting staff
- Help make integral decisions on how the land must be utilised as per research and spatial data analysis
- Liaise with clients based on their findings as a geospatial analyst
- Manage the overall budgets, resources and timelines that come with the GIS analyst role
- Responsibilities
- Write clear, concise and reliable reports based on the research done through the spatial mapping software
- Develop digital maps that translate the actuality of the topographical location using sophisticated tools
- Manage a digital library by extracting and organising data as a GIS analyst
- Implement cartographic design principles, keeping in mind the basic guidelines, while developing custom geospatial data
- Keep track of field data and collaborate with the senior GIS analyst and various members of governance bodies through the lifespan of each project
- Stay up-to-date on the dynamic world of GIS technology by reading journals and participating in workshops regarding the same
Required skills and qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in geography, surveying, engineering, or similar discipline
- 8-10 years of experience as BA with GIS
- Prior experience working as a GIS analyst
- Knowledge of working with GPS measuring tools
- Experience working with software such as CAD, JavaScript, Python, SQL or other geo database software
- Proficiency in using mapping tools
- Great verbal and written communication skills
- Preferred skills and qualifications
- Master’s degree in geography, engineering or a related field
- Excellent quantitative skillset
- Experience in publishing digital maps
