You must thrive working on open-ended problems across a range of disciplines; we are a start-up where our engineers do much more than just pick up JIRA tickets. A typical week may include debugging Python, deploying infrastructure changes, talking to product early-adopters, and strategic planning with the team leads. Responsibilities:- Working with product managers, researchers, and other engineers to define cloud-native backend systems and project requirements.
- Designing, building, and maintaining scalable backend services with a strong focus on cloud architecture.
- Writing clean, well-tested, and production-ready Python code (with opportunities to use Go or Rust where appropriate).
- Deploying and operating production systems on AWS with an emphasis on reliability, security, and performance.
- Using Infrastructure as Code to provision and manage cloud resources.
- Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Independent and self-driven learner with a strong interest in cloud infrastructure and backend engineering.
- Python experience is required; experience or interest in Go and/or Rust is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with AWS.
- Experience with Docker and containerized applications.
- Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform.
- Basic to intermediate Kubernetes knowledge.
- Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Loki.
