Job Summary
Introba is seeking a Director, Environmental Design and Sustainability to join our dynamic leadership team.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
The Sustainability Team undertake a broad range of activities as part of our service offering, together with working to advance Introba’s position as leaders in the market. The range of tasks and service offerings that you will be expected to perform, lead and grow include:
Sustainable Planning and Integration Strategies
- Work with design teams, to assist the development of sustainable approaches to district and urban scale developments – both in the UK and internationally.
- Develop and facilitate sustainability workshops and engagement events, identifying and prioritising objectives and goals.
- Lead the development of a compelling vision with the client and/or project team to incorporate the agreed objectives and goals.
- Developing and documenting design and delivery guidelines for future development to deliver those objectives and goals.
Sustainability Benchmarking and Assessment
- Support in the development of business stream around assessment certifications.
- Certification routes based on, but not limited to; BREEAM, WELL, Fitwel, LEED, Living Building Challenge, Passivhaus.
Thought Leadership, Research + Development
- As part of the Team’s leadership, you will be expected to lead the positioning of Introba as leaders in the field of sustainability.
- Input into the management of Introba’s internal annual R+D programme, assist in its delivery and working with internal partners.
- Explore opportunities to access funded research and work with external partners e.g. Universities.
- Provide thought leadership through speaking engagement, as author of publications, and blogs.
Decarbonisation and Carbon
- Support the whole life carbon and life cycle teams.
- Support and help develop decarbonisation and building performance workstreams.
Expanding our Strategic Consultancy Services
Work as key member of the Sustainability Team, to develop, evolve and expand the breadth of the consultancy services provided.
Training and Development
Delivery of training programmes for our clients and for our colleagues in Sustainability and the wider UK and international Introba Team.
Leadership Duties
People
- Utilise leadership skills and motivation techniques to maximize employee engagement, productivity and retention.
- Leads by example and mentors’ staff.
- Meet regularly with all team members to ensure issues are identified and action plans are in place, conduct team performance reviews, work with leadership to identify, support and promote high performing talent.
- Recommend training requirements, partnering with HR on team design issues and work with the Talent Attraction team for the recruitment and retention of team to support growth in the UK.
- Influence effectively inside and outside of the organisation as required.
Financial
- Achieve budget DLM, utilisation and productivity factors for consultancy services.
- Ensure Introba’s finance and project management system is updated with project plans on a regular basis and oversee staff in their resource and financial planning.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of team’s internal information generated, in particular backlog reporting, forecasting, project planning, WIP reporting and cashflow, and other financial and project management metrics as required.
- Liase with finance operations and project management colleagues to ensure robust and timely reporting.
Operational
- Heavily input to the Team’s business planning and sales strategies and implementation.
- Responsible for effective processes and quality control.
- Ensure policies, practices and procedures are understood and followed by direct reports, customers and stakeholders.
- Lead and manage their teams and the wider business in respect of non-project related budgets and tasks such as training, technical excellence, quality.
- High levels of integrity, always doing the right thing in an ethical, fair, and sustainable way.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Client focused, always striving to give clients the best solutions.
- Strong commitment to innovation by creating new and better ways to solve clients’ toughest challenges.
- Active listener with superb interpersonal skills with clients and staff, collaborative in a diverse and inclusive team, working together toward technical excellence.
- Proven leadership, mentoring, communication and coaching skills.
- Project management experience, particularly of major projects with demonstrated experience delivering quality results and exceeding client expectations.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng, PEng, PE or equivalent).
- Continuous improvement mindset and approach.
