Implementation Project Manager

London: Onsite

Our client is a fast growing FinTech developing infrastructure that helps established banks and financial institutions launch and manage new digital financial products.

Its API led platform integrates with existing banking systems, allowing clients to introduce mo

reflexible and personalised services without undertaking a complete replacement of their core technology.

The business already works with major regulated financial institutions across several international markets and is investing significantly in its client delivery and engineering capabilities.

About the role

The company is building a dedicated Project Implementation function and is hiring 2 Project Implementation Managers to own the post sale technical delivery journey.

You will take responsibility from contract signature through technical integration, testing, go-live and transition into BAU support.

This is not a traditional project coordination position. You will be the technically credible face of the company’s delivery function, working directly with architects, integration engineers, technology leaders and operational stakeholders within major financial institutions.

You will be expected to understand the substance of technical discussions, identify

risks, challenge delivery plans constructively and translate client requirements into clear actions for internal Product and Engineering teams.

As an early member of the function, you will also help create the processes, governance, templates and implementation playbooks needed to support future growth.

Key responsibilities

Client implementation and delivery

  • Own the end-to-end delivery of multiple client implementations, including kick-off, discovery, integration, UAT, go-live and handover into BAU.
  • Act as the main point of contact for client technology and operational stakeholders.
  • Translate complex client requirements into clear internal deliverables, dependencies and priorities.
  • Build trusted relationships with client architects, engineering teams, technology leads and operational stakeholders.
  • Manage difficult conversations, challenge unrealistic expectations and find pragmatic routes through delivery obstacles.
  • Support pre-sales activity where required, including implementation scoping, technical questions and delivery estimates.

Technical leadership

  • Lead technical discovery and integration-planning sessions with client engineering teams.
  • Facilitate discussions covering APIs, authentication, data flows, webhooks, environments and release sequencing.
  • Review and interrogate API specifications, solution designs, dependencies and integration plans.
  • Identify technical gaps, delivery risks and unclear ownership before they affect timelines or production systems.
  • Coordinate client facing releases with internal Product, Engineering and Technical Delivery teams.
  • Use a working knowledge of cloud infrastructure, containerised services and API-led architectures to contribute credibly to technical discussions.
  • Use AI tools to improve areas such as reporting, documentation, risk analysis, meeting synthesis and client communication.

Governance and programme management

  • Establish disciplined governance across all client engagements. Maintain delivery plans, RAID logs, status reporting, scope management, change control and escalation routes.
  • Provide clear and appropriately detailed updates to both technical stakeholders and senior executives.
  • Work closely with Product Owners to define, track and communicate client-driven requirements.
  • Manage several complex programmes concurrently while maintaining control of priorities, risks and client expectations.
  • Help develop and continuously improve the company’s implementation framework, templates and tooling

Essential experience

Significant experience managing complex, technical and client-facing delivery programmes within banking, payments, fintech or integration-led B2B software.

  • A strong track record of delivering technology programmes for large financial institutions or other highly regulated enterprise clients.
  • The ability to work credibly with senior architects, integration engineers, Product Owners and Engineering leaders.
  • Strong understanding of API led integrations and concepts such as REST APIs, OAuth, webhooks, data flows and event-driven architectures.
  • The ability to read and question API documentation, integration designs and technical delivery plans.
  • Practical familiarity with at least one major cloud environment, such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
  • An understanding of containerised services, cloud-native infrastructure and production release dependencies.
  • Experience managing multiple complex client implementations or programmes simultaneously.
  • Strong governance and programme-management discipline, including RAID management, status reporting, scope control and senior stakeholder escalation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to translate technical detail into clear business language and vice versa.
  • Evidence of partnering with Product and Engineering teams to shape requirements and delivery decisions, rather than simply passing messages between teams.
  • Practical use of AI tools to improve delivery activities, documentation, reporting, analysis or communication.
  • Comfort operating in a growing business where processes and tools are still being developed.

Desirable experience

  • Knowledge of payments, card issuing, card schemes, digital wallets or money movement infrastructure.
  • Experience with areas such as Visa, Mastercard, BIN sponsorship, Apple Pay, Google Pay or card-processing platforms.
  • Previous experience establishing an implementation function, delivery methodology or client onboarding playbook.
  • Exposure to financial regulation, banking governance or controlled production-release environments.
  • Relevant certifications such as PRINCE2, PMP or ITIL, although practical delivery capability is more important.
  • Experience using tools such as Jira, Confluence, Datadog, incident-management platforms or similar delivery and observability software.

We are regrettably unable to consider candidates who require visa sponsorship.
