I’m working with a fast-growing fintech startup looking for a Staff AI Engineer to help define how agentic AI is built into customer-facing financial products.
This is a senior, hands-on role focused on taking AI agents beyond prototypes and building the foundations required to make them reliable, secure and observable in production.
You’ll join as one of the most senior AI ICs in the team, with significant ownership over how agentic AI operates within a complex financial technology platform.
What you’ll be doing:
- Designing and building agentic AI capabilities for customer-facing products
- Building infrastructure around agent runtimes, orchestration and tool use
- Defining how agents are deployed, governed, executed and observed
- Building evaluation, tracing and monitoring for production AI systems
- Designing guardrails, controls and appropriate levels of agent autonomy
- Integrating AI with existing backend systems, APIs and platform architecture
- Influencing AI architecture and technical direction
What we’re looking for:
- Staff-level technical credibility while remaining very hands-on
- Strong software and product engineering foundations
- Experience building and shipping agentic AI systems into production
- Experience with agent runtimes, orchestration, tool use and integrations
- Strong understanding of observability, evaluation, reliability and governance for AI systems
- Experience delivering AI capabilities used by real customers, rather than solely prototypes
- Banking, fintech, payments or core banking experience would be highly relevant
There isn’t necessarily one conventional background for this role. You could come from an AI-native business, fintech, developer tooling company or a strong product engineering organisation where you’ve helped take sophisticated AI systems into production.
