THE ROLE

  • Working proactively with managers and leadership to establish and maintain safe systems of work, and a safe environment for colleagues.
  • Utilising management system policies and procedures, including risk assessment, accident prevention, health initiatives and acknowledged personal responsibility.
  • Ensuring that Process safety risks are adequately assessed and controlled.
  • Providing EHS approval for new and revised Safety Critical Standard Operating Procedures across all operations areas including Engineering.
  • Implementing and maintaining an incident reporting system.
  • Complying with relevant environmental permits and trade consents and submitting environmental returns.
  • Promoting minimisation of waste and waste costs.
  • Establishing and maintaining EHS procedures and standards and providing training to members of the Leadership Team as appropriate.
  • Overseeing the site Management of Change system.
  • Maintaining new starter and contractor induction packs and participating in contractor assessments and approvals.
  • Establishing, maintaining and monitoring the site performance to ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
  • Maintaining an appropriate internal audit programme.
  • Supporting management and leadership in identifying EHS training needs.
  • Maintaining Emergency Procedures and competent persons.
  • Interfacing with Regulators, contractors, suppliers and consultants to ensure compliance.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Experience of working within a process manufacturing environment.
  • Qualified to NEBOSH National General Certificate.
  • An Environmental qualification (or experience).
  • Internal auditor in an ISO standard 45001/14001.
  • Chemistry qualifications to degree level would be desirable.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Expertise in current Health / Safety & Environmental Legislation.
  • Practical application of Environmental, Health & Safety and Waste legislation.
