We are working with an established main contractor who are looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. This is a great opportunity for a QS who is looking to develop their experience within a supportive commercial environment, working alongside experienced Senior Quantity Surveyors. The successful candidate will typically be part of a commercial team delivering projects in the region of £10m, while also having the opportunity to take commercial responsibility for smaller projects of around £3m.
The Role
- Manage the commercial aspects of projects from start to completion
- Work as part of a wider commercial team on larger projects
- Take responsibility for smaller projects, typically around £3m
- Support with subcontract procurement, valuations, variations and final accounts
- Monitor project costs, budgets and financial performance
- Work closely with the Senior QS and wider project team
- Build strong relationships with subcontractors, clients and suppliers
- Ensure commercial procedures and reporting requirements are maintained
About You
- Build Main contractor experience – essential
- Experience working on construction projects of approximately £3m–£10m+
- A good understanding of commercial and contractual processes
- The ability to work effectively as part of a commercial team
- Confidence taking ownership of smaller projects
- Good communication and negotiation skills
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Relevant Quantity Surveying qualification or equivalent experience
This role would suit a Project QS, Quantity Surveyor or an experienced Assistant QS who is ready to take the next step in their career.
