My client is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their growing North West team. You will be working for a main contractor on a major cladding remediation project in Salford. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with on-site contractor experience who is looking to develop their career under the guidance of an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor.
To begin with, you will be based on one specific project, gaining hands-on experience across all core quantity surveying duties on a complex, live remediation scheme.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with the preparation and management of project budgets and cost plans
- Measurement and valuation of works on site
- Assisting with monthly valuations and cost reports
- Supporting the procurement process, including issuing enquiries and comparing subcontractor quotations
- Assisting with subcontractor package management, including orders, variations and payments
- Monitoring project costs and highlighting potential risks and opportunities
- Assisting with the assessment of variations and change control
- Supporting final accounts and commercial close-out
- Liaising with site teams, subcontractors and suppliers on a day-to-day basis
About You
- Previous on-site experience working for a contractor (essential)
- Holds a Quantity Surveying qualification (degree, HNC/HND or equivalent)
- Good understanding of basic quantity surveying and commercial processes
- Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills
- Confident communicator, comfortable working with site and commercial teams
- Keen to learn and progress within a structured commercial team
