An established and respected construction consultancy is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join its expanding Project and Fund Monitoring team. This role offers a different perspective from a traditional project-based QS position. Rather than being tied to a single scheme, you will gain exposure to multiple developments across a range of sectors, seeing projects progress from pre-contract and funding approval through construction to handover. It’s an ideal opportunity for a QS who wants to broaden their commercial skill set and develop a more strategic, advisory understanding of how projects are delivered and funded.
The Role
- Working alongside experienced senior surveyors, you will support the delivery of project and fund monitoring services for banks, lenders, investors and developers.
- Assisting with project and fund monitoring commissions across multiple sectors and project types.
- Supporting projects through the full development lifecycle, from pre-contract review to completion and handover.
- Reviewing development appraisals, cost plans, programmes and procurement strategies.
- Monitoring build costs, cash flow and drawdown requests from a funder and investor perspective.
- Carrying out site inspections and reporting on progress, risk, variations and compliance.
- Supporting due diligence exercises and lender advisory reporting.
- Preparing clear, concise and commercially focused reports for client and funder use.
This role provides a broader, portfolio-level view of construction projects, encouraging analytical thinking and commercial judgement beyond day-to-day measurement and valuations.
About You
- Degree-qualified (or similar) in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Experience in a consultancy or contractor environment is welcome.
- A genuine interest in project or advisory-based QS work.
- Strong commercial awareness with a detail-oriented and analytical mindset.
- Confident written and verbal communication skills.
- Willing to travel to sites nationwide as part of a hybrid role.
This opportunity would suit:
- Assistant QSs in consultancy roles looking for wider project exposure.
- Contractor-side QSs seeking a more client-facing, advisory position.
- Graduates or early-career QSs keen to understand how projects are funded, assessed and controlled.
What’s on Offer
- Hybrid working.
- Exposure to projects at multiple stages simultaneously, rather than a single long-term scheme.
- Experience across a variety of sectors, enhancing long-term career flexibility.
- Development of skills in risk analysis, reporting, funding and commercial decision-making.
- Structured support, mentoring and clear progression within a specialist monitoring team.
- Competitive salary and benefits package.
- Support towards professional development and chartership.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor who enjoys the technical foundations of QS work but wants to build a broader, more strategic consultancy skill set within a growing and specialist team.
