Job summary

As an Improving SAIS Uptake Officer, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service, supporting managers and staff across the programme.

NOTE: This post is to provide additional resource to support programmes to do over and above the standard requirements of the service specification in relation to optimising coverage and uptake (as outlined above), it is not to put these standard processes in place

The post holder will focus on improving the uptake of SAIS across the programme geography.

In particular, the post holder will:

Work with colleagues in schools with low uptake to drive uptake up.

Work with colleagues in PCN/GP practices to ensure individuals vulnerable to non-participation are supported to access catch up immunisations

Work with community groups/individuals vulnerable to non-participation to improve awareness of immunisations and access to immunisation programmes offering information in accessible format, attending community events.

Dedicated member of staff to work with low uptake schools to support schools with additional needs – interpreters, supporting consent returns etc.

improve communications for schools, produce a webinar to send to schools, parents and young people, dispelling myths about vaccinations sharing positive messages and facts.

Look at translation of materials and use of translators in schools where this is required.

Main duties of the job

Toprovide pro-active and outward/public facing support to the SAIS team in theimprovement of SAI uptake across the programme.Improvingquality and outcomesTo be an integrated member of theSAIS team and wider service who actively initiates new and contributes toexisting improving uptake projects (by the SAIS service or local partners), ensuringthat a quality service is provided to all service users.Focuses on reducing healthinequalities by developing and contributing to interventions by the serviceand external partners to improve uptake of SAI by groups vulnerable tonon-participation.Actively supports the SAIS team andcontributes to achieving key performance indicatorsActively engages with systempartners to improve SAI uptake, providing key knowledge of immunisationprogrammesUses evidence and learns from bestpractice across the region and further afield (including other SAIS programmes)to inform work.Continually maintains records to beable to produce timely quarterly SAI Uptake reports and end of year reportswhich contribute to the overall service annual report.
